MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC Releases Ultra Compact DIP Intelligent Power Module for Appliance Inverters
As the popularity of inverters in both industrial and commercial fields rapidly increases due to the growing need for energy saving and miniaturization, the demand for Mitsubishi Electric DIP Intelligent Power Module Series (available through Glyn High-Tech Distribution) have also increased accordingly.
However, the demand for greater miniaturization and lower thermal resistance remains unabated especially for applications where small capacity inverter-driven motors are used, such as in home appliances like air conditioners, refrigerators and washers.
In order to accommodate this strong market need, Mitsubishi has further miniaturized their existing line and developed the Transfer Molding Type Intelligent Power Module, which implements a new discontinuous construction using high heat release. This new technology has achieved miniaturization of approximately 60% of the packaging area in their already small DIP-IPM Ver.3 (5 –15A) product line.
By introduction of a lead-free soldering process for the power elements, Mitsubishi has also achieved a lead-free interior while assuring high reliability. Along with the lead-free solder plating at the terminal, Mitsubishi has completely eliminated the use of lead in these products in conformance with environmental regulations.
DIP-IPMs Ver. 4 have an output voltage of 600V, collector current from 5-20A, three-phase inverter configuration, built-in drive circuit, and built-in protection circuits such as for short circuit or power source voltage reduction protection.
Mitsubishi also plans to expand their DIP-IPM line-up to include large current capacity models for industrial air conditioner applications. |
